SATURDAY:
One Imagination Dodgeball Social & Potluck Come and bring it foo! We gonna get down and dirty with grass stained knees, dodgeball style, like we’re eight year olds with only one purpose: to beat the other team! AHAHAHA! And then after that, we’ll eat, drink, and be merry: jamming, writing, discussing together, maybe even watch the Pacquiao fight if we feel like it. Meet at Recreation Park, 4900 East 7th Street, Long Beach, at 4PM! We’ll relocate to someone’s apartment nearby after the sun sets. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Long+Beach&state=CA&address=4900+E+7th+St&zipcode=90804-4330&country=US&latitude=33.775346&longitude=-118.136104&geocode=ADDRESS SUNDAY: One Imagination General Meeting Sunday, November 15th, 6PM – 9PM You like what One Imagination is about? One Imagination is made up of artists who create, not only works of art in various mediums, but create bridges, connections, spaces, community with the hope of bringing people together in finding common ground, learning more about ourselves, and connecting at a deeper level for transformative positive change internally and externally.
With that, we wanted to share some written work by 1i artists, work that can be found publicly on their blogs. Feel free to comment and dialogue with these artists if any of these pieces speaks to you. “Women” by Big Brother “Sing Along Song” by JEG “Shackles” by Jumakae “2” by Mayazteca “The Potter” by Ryan the Lion “Fresh Raw Imperfect” by soul.in.my.fist A Celebration of Melody Ross's life
Wednesday night Nov. 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., multiple restaurants on Pine Ave. between 1st and 3rd Sts. will participate in a fundraiser for the family of Melody Ross, the 16 year-old Wilson High School student fatally shot following the school's homecoming football game. Each restaurant will donate a percentage of sales from the evening to the Melody Ross Memorial Trust. Among the Pine Ave. restaurants planning to participate are his Bouchees Bistro at Smooth's, as well as L'Opera, The Madison, Allegria, Hooters, Cafe Sevilla, George's Greek Cafe, Shannon's Pub, Taco Beach, Alladin, Alondra Wings, It's a Grind coffee house, and Pinkberry on Broadway. Spend a day with your family, friends, or lovers while at the same time helping another family and supporting a cause that should be known worldwide. Your help and support is truly appreciated and definitely makes the hearts of all those who were effected, family, and friends stronger. http://www.lbreport.com/news/nov09/rosspine.htm Donate directly to the Melody Ross Memorial Trust Account here.
